| Module content | The module assists students to develop an understanding of the legislation and policy framework that guides practice, and helps them to work within this framework. It includes: nature and functions of the law; understanding the basic principles of the law and applying the law in practice; the South African Constitution and what it requires of education; the South African Schools Act and its prescriptions for schools; human rights and the obligations of all stakeholders in education. In addition, the module guides students to reflect critically on their practical experiences in the light of legislation, case law and policy in order to manage contextual challenges within the school environment. |
